Today we had another homeschool coop class. This is our second artist study for coop. Last time we learned about Picasso, but today the kids learned about Monet.
We started with a Powerpoint about Monet where the kids learned about his early life. They also learned about what impressionism is and some other impressionists.
Each child got a canvas to recreate Monet's Water Lillies painting. Each table had some paint pallets on it that the kids could share.
First, they drew out their plan for their painting. This was interesting because some didn't realize the goal was to reproduce what was on the screen, so they just started drawing. All in all, it went pretty well though!

Next it was time to start painting with little brush strokes. This took quite some time and concentration. It was funny because most of the kids painted the bridge first, before the background.

They all tried to keep an eye on the screen so they could make it look as close as possible to the original, but it was hard to get some of the colors and brush strokes right!
I helped my 5 year old girlie some by sketching it for her, but she painted everything and did a really good job. I was impressed at the end of hers what it looked like!

As everyone started getting closer to the end, you could tell most of them were finished! They just wanted to finish quickly so they could play!
This is my 14 year old son's painting and I think he did a pretty good job! He at least had fun and stuck with it until he had it looking like he wanted it to look. That's a win in my book!
Here are the paintings my three sons did. All of them are different, but they all did a good job. Some of the other kids, I was wondering if they were all looking at the same painting or not! Ha! It was a fun coop class!
