I started steemit last month and was quickly learning the ropes when I saw a few people talking about a group in discord. I went and clicked the link and it didn’t really look like something for me, so I moved on. Then recommended I come check out a new group called The Unmentionables that had some encouraging people in it. I decided to give it a glance and see what it was all about.
When I first entered the group, I appreciated the fact that people were actually using the group. There were people actually chatting in the general chat channel. I have since been to a few other groups that are seemingly dead and people only use them for post promotion. This group was different in that one of the “rules” was you had to interact with members of the group in order to promote your post. Just what I was looking for – people who would actually read and comment on my posts!
I did all the steps necessary to join The Unmentionables, and I have enjoyed being a member for a few weeks now. I enjoy reading other members’ posts, and then commenting and upvoting them. I’ve even gotten to know a little bit about some of the other members this way. I have seen that a lot of them are really cool - like one of the members is a professional basketball player, one plays in a band, some other expats, and lots of nice chicas. They even have a daily curation (best of the members) post - these have a little more information about the group too.
I highly recommend this encouraging group to get your feet planted and keep you motivated in steemit. It has a great sense of community – better than any other group I have seen. I have convinced my friend here in Panama and my husband to join it. Now it’s your turn!
If you have checked out discord in the past and it looked too intimidating, I encourage you to try it again and look into this group. You will really be happy that you did. There is an application to fill out here (although there is a little back up – just be patient).
Hope to see you in the group!
