I have only started playing Splinterlands for maybe 2 months now. However, recently I have started to enjoy it much more because I am starting to understand the game.
I was not able to afford a legendary splinter so I have been trying to level up the water summoner Alric. That is why I have decided to draw a Water Splinter today, and this water splinter has been OP when I was breaking through to the silver and gold levels. It is also the first water splinter that I leveled up to level 6. It has strong Melee attack and is able to heal itself... Yes you guessed it. It is:
SEA MONSTER
Here is the final artwork, spent several hours across a couple of days to finish it.
ENTRY: LEGENDARY SEA MONSTER DRAGON
However, I did not draw the exact Sea Monster, I wanted to draw a Legendary Sea Monster Dragon haha. I really enjoy drawing dragons so I decided to turn Sea Monster into a Dragon of my style.
I decided to keep some features of Sea Monster so that it is still recognizable, as it is one of my favorite splinters in the game.
The drawing is based on the card art of SEA MONSTER. I used it as a reference.
This artwork is from https://splinterlands.com/
I do not who the artist is, but the art is awesome. If you do, please let me know in the comment section below.
I decided to keep the pose of Sea Monster as I want it to be recognizable. I made it a bit more fierce, and have longer and stronger teeth.
Now I will show the steps of how I created the drawing
Art Process
I am still using a drawing tablet: Huion h610 pro v2 to create this drawing. I have been working on digital art mainly these days.
Here are the steps:
Step 1: Rough Sketch of the drawing:
Getting a rough idea of the shape first, then filling in more outline....
At this point, it looks very similar to the Sea Monster, but I want to make it look more like a dragon lol... and more fierce
I made the head slightly larger. Made the teeth stronger and bigger. Then make the hair of the dragon more spiky.
Step 2: Adding in Base Colours
Here I added the base colors to the Sea Monster Dragon. Initially I started with the colors of Sea Monster which is Blue, however, I wanted to try some other colors.
Red and purple makes the Sea Monster Dragon more fierce and stronger.
Step 3: Refining the Drawing
This process took the longest, several hours. After establishing the colors that I am going to use, I need to star refining the drawing, as the drawing has too many rough marks and needs to be cleaned up.
So After several hours of refining....
It took a lot of time, but I am quite happy with the results. The Sea Monster Dragon does look quite fierce now. Now I need a strong background because it seems like the Sea Monster is Blasting some super OP attack from its Mouth.
Step 4: Adding the Background
And then I need to add my avatar into the drawing
And that is it. Thanks for checking out the post and hope that you like it.
I will also be sharing this art on Twitter.
Hope that you enjoyed go through the post.
