Today is the day I'm having 1 year anniversary on being a member of Steemit!
6th of November 2016 was the day I joined Steemit. It has been a long way since then and I feel like it would have been longer time than a year since I joined.. or actually I don't even remember the time I joined.
My story on Steemit
I have a friend who is into crypto and anarcho capitalism. He tried to get me to join Steemit, even though I wasn't that much interested. To be honest, I don't remember if I pretended to be interested, but actually wasn't. To all my friends, of course YOU are the interesting one and I'm only pretending to the others.
I finally joined Steemit. I didn't do pretty much anything back then, only joined to have the account ready. I wasn't excited about the long powering down times (they were longer than 13 weeks back then) and the very low value of crypto back in the days.
The main issue was that Steemit seemed clunky to use and a bit ugly to me. I didn't know people on Steemit and as far as I tried to go through posts, it was hard to find anything good. Lots of crypto-related posts and posts about cooking noodles.
I posted my first post in 2017, which was months after I joined.
And what did I start with? A baking post.
It was good and writing was fun, however I soon noticed how hard I would need to focus to get a post I'm happy about. I worked on the next posts in different ways and it still was a rough job, coming up with a topic and writing a good post on it.
The payouts dropped for every post, even though I received upvotes. I didn't try to connect with other people in their posts enough and I also felt people didn't ready my posts that much. I decided to have a pause on Steemit, as I had to work more on my thesis and finishing my studies.
The second coming

For some reason, I returned to Steemit. I can't even remember why. I was still finishing my thesis and I had plenty of work to do.. but I found my way back here. Steemit was pretty much the same, powering down time had reduced and Steem price increased.
However I had changed. I didn't have as much pressure on making specially good posts anymore as you have seen on my posts, so I could just write about different topics without any pressure. This was a major turning point on my posting.
The greatest change was finding the steemit.chat -community. It perfected the social aspect of Steemit in the best way for me, as it made me remember how important it is to connect with others. People are not perfect in there, of course not, but I've enjoyed my time with the group.
What now?
I have had no goals on Steemit and neither will I have them in the future. It 's not a big thing for me if Steem will skyrocket or not, as I'm enjoying my stay in here. We've got an amazing group of creators on Steemit with very different backgrounds and skills and I do appreciate admiring all your work in here.
Keep up the good work and let's post another, better anniversary blog post after a year!
