It’s no longer new about the Ukraine war which was a result of Russia invading its territory on 24 February 2022 due to the order given by Vladimir Putin the Russian president. Indeed since Russia's invasion of Ukraine took effect to date, so many lives and properties have been lost and no one knows how many will be lost again but I think if the war in Ukraine is resolved that it will be of good benefit to mankind than fighting and killing each other.
Well, most of it is the killings of civilians including children by the Russian forces in Ukraine, and considering how the International Criminal Court values the lives and properties of civilians worldwide, many are calling for President Vladimir Putin to be charged by the ICC. Meanwhile, since the beginning of the war that led to so many loss of lives and properties in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been calling on the world power and ICC should regard Russia as a terrorist state.
NDTV reported through a statement made by EU chief Ursula von der Leyen in an Interview that President Vladimir Putin must be brought to the International Criminal Court (ICC) because every lives and property that are mostly civilians were all killed and lost because of his ruthless order.
In the world we are today, I think for one to give an order as a president to his arm forces to invade another country's territory to an extent of killing and destroying properties worth billions of dollars that it’s against humanity and that the ICC who are always there to protect the lives and properties of a common man nationwide. Since the action taken by the Russian President to invade Ukraine was generally wrong by world power and mankind, if people like the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and others including EU chief Ursula von der Leyen calling for Putin should be brought to ICC that may be possible because there are so many evidence in Ukraine to back the claim.
The Guardian reported that the EU chief Ursula von der Leyen stated after she visited Ukraine that Ukraine will always have the support of the European Union because they committed no offense and besides they are not the one who invaded other people’s territory but Russia did. She also declared that evidence that will prove the Russian President before the ICC be gathered from Ukraine.
The question here is whether President Putin will accept to answer the ICC. Well, nobody in the world is above the law especially when it has to do with lives and properties that concern civilians, The world power through collaboration with the ICC will surely intervene and stand for justice.
