You may ask yourselves why the Western people appear so ignorant about the blatant imperialism that is performed by their nations against you and your families, homes, and nations, since decades (and centuries, even)?
Of course, I can not give you a full, comprehensive analysis, but I will try to at least focus your attention on one complex that, to my experience, is most effectively used to create this political illiteracy you realize when talking with western people. And this is the role of the media. In the West, most of the influential media are owned by private corporations. Here in Germany, about 90 pct of the newspapers are in the hands of only 3 or 4 players, individuals like the Israeli Haim Saban, or families like Springer, Burda, and Mohn, who gained enormous wealth and power, hence they achieved a big stake in creating the public opinion.
Since 1933, we Germans do NOT have a free press anymore.
