Who Is Talented?
Everybody knows of at least one person who they would call talented. This person may be anyone. It could be your significant other who is amazing at cooking or your favourite piano player.
There are many forms that talent comes in, however, what is it regarding them that makes us label them as talents? One thing you will notice concerning these highly skilful people is that they're doing their speciality in a way that looks easy to us.
These people that you may label as talented have been practising their skill almost daily for many years of their lives, and so it is often second nature to them. But is this a God-given talent that they were born with? No, absolutely not! They learnt through the long and arduous route, determination, persistence and one main factor, practice.
You know what you like, what you are addicted to and what you are good at. However, how would you take this passion and turn it into a talent?
Creating Dreams One Step At A Time
Ending up better at something, regardless of what it is, involves small and distinct changes. For instance, you will realise that you are very passionate about. You have figured out that you are a quick learner and have a decent ear for music. You have ended up realising that you want to be good at playing the guitar. However, it would be unwise of you to begin learning the instrument and then send your demo to the best music producers and managers immediately.
Little advances prompt large gains. It's probable that there is a huge area between where you are and where you need to be. Nevertheless, by setting yourself small and realistic goals, you will be able to slowly master the passion that other will eventually describe as your talent.
In the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, it says that it takes a minimum of 10,000 hours or roughly ten years of practice. Do not let this statement put you off. If you think regarding the situation, there could also be many things you are already deemed talented at, from sympathising with others, dancing, listening or writing. We are always practising skills that are unknown to ourselves.
To start revealing new skills, all you need to do is recognise your passions, have specific goals and keep on practising!
So do not be modest, what are your talents? No one was born with talent. However, everyone was born with the potential to make our dreams realities. There is an opportunity for all, take it!
