The theory of relativity was Einstein's most famous contribution to science. It was published in 1915 and he won the Nobel Prize for it in 1921. In spite of this achievement he never assume he was a finished, accomplished and fulfilled. Einstein continued to work and contribute to the field for 40 more years.
Till his death, Einstein continued to contribute his quota to the development of science, he squeezed greatness out of himself even in the midst of severe physical pain till he faced death. Einstein died of internal bleeding due to the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm, a condition he had struggled with for years.
Everyone has a gift to share with the world, something that is self motivating and energizing. This is of value and importance to the world and should be pursued with every sense of purpose and calling even to our last breath. It could be your career, or some other thing you are passionate about. Whatever yours' may be, our lives are meant to be spent making contribution to the world, not merely consuming the world that others create. We may not be able to predict the value of our work to the world, but we are to create it either way.
Before his death, doctors proposed trying a new and unproven surgical procedure on him. This was the final option available to extend his life. His reply was amazing, “I have done my share, it is time to go. I will do it elegantly.”
We all have the opportunity to squeeze greatness out of ourselves as much as we can. We all have the chance to do our share.
