Abendlied
Josef Gabriel Rheinbergerp
Happy day friends steemians! To continue with this compilation of sacred music for Easter, today I present a work entitled "Abendlied" by composer Josef Gabriel Rheinberger. This German artist of the nineteenth century was an organist in the Church of Vaduz from the age of seven, and from an early age he already presented his compositions in the parish.
Years later he became a piano teacher and then finished as a composition teacher. The Abendlied is an anthem composed at 15 years of age and is the third of the three spiritual songs Op 69,3. The text, which is in German, is taken from the Gospel of Saint Luchas 24, 29.

Bleib bei uns,
denn es will Abend werden,
und der Tag hat sich geneiget.
In this video we can appreciate the impeccable version of the Choir of the Central University of Washington, directed by Gary Weidenaar in the Church of Santa María de la Asunción in Ordizia, Spain. Thank you for reading this post at the end, which is dedicated to learning more about the religious choral compositions of the world. I hope it has been to your liking and I invite you to keep an eye on upcoming publications. God bless you!
