It’s difficult to give up bad habits even for a strong person. A person who has bad habits most of the time suffers from a psychological point of view rather then physical. This kind of person likes and needs the ritual like smoking a cigarette or eating something tasty.
For example, while trying to quit smoking symptoms from nicotine disappear quite fast, but the person still feels bad. All of his energy is concentrated not to smoke. That person doesn’t know how to fill that void in the change of their routine.
Often one bad habit replaces with another one like eating instead of smoking which leads to weight gain, high blood pressure or diabetes. Even trying to escape from an unhealthy habit people change their lifestyle drastically to a more healthy one. They start to eat right or start training. Most of the time they tend to overcompensate their bad habits and stress their bodies even more.
I’m one of those people. When I quit smoking and gave up alcohol I started eating healthy and started training. I wanted to loose weight so I started training more and more. I ate only what seemed healthy and no more that I needed. I was obsessed… Well still am.. I know that it’s not healthy to be that strict and I need to relax but in my mind this is the lesser of to evils.
In my opinion if you want to really free yourself from a habit you need some help from a professional. It doesn’t matter what kind of unhealthy habit you have all of them show some kind of psychological problem.
