In June of last year when I was introduced to Steemit, I started with a sense of wonder and even a tad bit of insecurity as my experience with Facebook was very unpleasant after having lost so much money paying for ads for my business on their site.
My first blog on here I don’t believe earned me anything, but I didn’t give up and as I started to blog more and read others blogs and commenting I started seeing an increase in upvotes for my posts. Granted, I’m no whale, still a lil minnow making my way upstream but it always feels good to see my friends and followers stop by and comment/upvote on my posts. It’s like we have all built our own little tribes of Steemit friends! Mine may be small but it’s a mighty bunch!
However, I notice many of us who started around the same time have about the same amount of followers yet not all of those followers comment or upvote our posts. I think this is due to the traditional social media mentality of more followers=popularity which doesn’t translate well here as we pretty much all have the same goal here- to earn STEEM. Without upvotes it doesn’t really matter how many followers we may have. I only address this because I see many new bloggers spamming with “follow me” comments yet they don’t upvote posts.
I feel I’ve yet to learn so much on Steemit, and I’m excited to do so. I have learned more about crypto on here and made great friends than anywhere else.
Most importantly the sense of community here on Steemit is the best! It’s so fun to see what everyone is up to, to browse your artwork, to learn more about your lives. It makes me so happy when I have done time in my day to catch up on all my favorite people on the blockchain.
So after everything I have written on here what do I really think of Steemit? I think it’s allowed many of us to have a creative outlet where we may earn a little, or a lot in some cases, extra income, it’s introduced us to new people, it’s given us an understanding of how crypto and the blockchain work, but most of all it gives us the opportunity to be part of an awesome community! I love my Steemit tribe!
