Former President of the United States Barack Obama approved the deployment of cybernetic weapons on Russias infrastructure, reports the Washington Post
While doing their own research, journalist discovered this weapon is ''the digital equivalent of bombs'' and can be triggered in the events of collapsing relationships with Russia, the launch of this weapon could only be approved by the acting President. Former US officials explained that the weapon was developed by the NSA and would disrupt strategically important networks in Russia, and that this could be done remotely.
The article points out, that the Obama administration was searching for counter measurements to the alleged ''russian hacking'' into US interal affairs. They were however afraid that more sanctions against Russia could have a negative impact on the pre-election campaign of Hillary Clitnon.
Information from the Washington Post states that the technology is still in its early stages, and that development has slowed down with Donald Trump taking office.
The Obama administration had already shown the world how powerful cyber-warfare is in 2010, when they deployed Stuxnet , a computer virus that infects windows operation systems and the software Simatic 7 that controlls industrial Programmable Logical Controllers , these were responsible for monitoring and adjusting the centrifuges that separate nuclear material, stuxnet ruined almost one fifth of Iran's nuclear power plants.
