Desde el año pasado comencé con mis amigas a organizar salidas mensuales y uno de estos planes que surgieron fue este, ir a ver las estrellas. Since we find out about all the events here in town through Instagram, we learned that a group of stargazers was offering this trip—a one-night camping trip—to observe the more than 100 objects originally cataloged by the astronomer Charles Messier.

Llegamos a eso de las 6 de la tarde y lo primero fue comenzar a armar las carpas, en nuestro caso decidimos optar por alquilar una a los organizadores del viaje en 5 USD, para mi sorpresa es un tipo de carpa que se arma casi como abrir un paraguas, super fácil y rápido.
We arrived around 6 p.m., and the first thing we did was start setting up the tents. In our case, we decided to rent one from the trip organizers for $5. To my surprise, it’s the kind of tent that sets up almost like opening an umbrella—super easy and quick.

To be honest, I went into the activity with zero expectations, and I actually put off deciding whether or not to go for a long time. But now that I’ve done it, I can wholeheartedly recommend participating in an activity like this. You’ll learn and be amazed by everything that lies beyond what our eyes can see. One more thing: if you’re interested in constellations, download the Stellarium app on your phone—it’s very easy to use, and honestly, you can have a lot of fun any night just by looking up at the sky.
