The tragedy of the overheating of our world can be seen at Fox Glacier, on the south island of New Zealand.
On the way to Fox Glacier we stopped and parked our car alongside the road. Then following some pathways and weaving through some trees, we discovered this lovely secret place beyond the trees.
It was beautiful and so peaceful and cozy there, without other tourists, so we took our time exploring it. This is the photos we took of the secret place:
Just before the Fox Glacier:
We came across this scene, with water gushing down from the mountainsides:
When we got to Fox Glacier:
The weather was very cold, so I didn’t walk up to the mountain to see the fading glacier.
I stayed in the car with misty mountain cliffs all around the parking area. Our surroundings looked so dismal, grey and cold. There didn’t seem to be any greenery here at all!
My husband also stayed with me, because he only had ordinary shoes on. Even though he loves hiking, he didn’t want worry the family to get his hiking shoes out the car’s boot. So he didn’t tell them his problem, and kindly sat things out with me.
Happily our family left us, to climb up to where the bottom of the glacier ends, along with the rest of the tourists. Here are photos they took, going up and coming down.
The ice is melting very fast!
The end of the glacier is no longer far way down the mountain side, like it used to be.
See the first collage of the photos they took. The end and bottom of the glacier can be seen in the bottom left photo.
Sadly it’s melting at an alarm rate over the last few years. There is only a little left… higher up between the gullies of the mountain. That’s because the world temperature is rising all the time!
That was evidence to me that our earth is in a lot of trouble!

Coming away:
On our way, away from Fox Glacier, we stopped for a short time. And this is the scene that confronted us there. Isn’t New Zealand beautiful?!
