Freddie and the Unation ship searched for signs of humans throughout the rest of the world. They found them in Australia, India, towards China, but they mostly were on the move westwards towards Europe, where it is likely they’ll clash with those already settled there. The only dense populations are in India, forming two small cities of less than a million. Irfan wanted to head one of the teams, so I gave Efineh the nod and she let him go. To be honest, I’m not interested in watching over them, the teams include Cherinians and if they need help they’ll get it. I’m more concerned about helping the people I know. We were happy for Efineh when Irfan brought her swathes of beautiful silk and when she wore them, we teased her that she looks like a peacock. My little girl has taken her position very seriously and is working eighteen hours a day. It makes me feel decadent when I spend my days talking, walking around our grounds, gardening or sitting on the roof with a good book.
“Irfan tells me that because the ash clouds were carried towards where America should be, the Asians have not been affected. He is finding it difficult to convince them of the troubles that are coming.” She had just a touch of malice in her grin as she added, “They do not have any of the philosophies or religions of his Earth and are a much harder people.”
“Poor Irfan, what a disappointment.” We both burst out laughing.
