"If no one comes to your call, then come alone." - The song of poet Rabindranath Tagore is very rare. Many people may also follow. But this time the residents of a village followed it. Jhumpa did not hear the call of the villagers, a wealthy or powerful person. So they did not sit. Built on their own initiative, a long and fancy floating bridge. Many people have already known about floating bridges. In this post, the details of the villagers' initiative and the bridge will be detailed.
A Bamor, Jampa in Manirampur Upazila of Jessore. Rajgunj Bazar at Bamber's Arbor and Jeepa (the name of the name of Bamrar) is the village. About 15 thousand people live in the village. Every day, they need to come to Rajgon passing this banyo. The village is surrounded by four sides, the bamboo. It was not just a season, but it would have to be crossed all year round. As a result, people of the village were suffering from communication crisis for hundreds of years. Boat was the only way to cross the border. If the boat was not found, the village was separated from the main locality. There are also memories of some tragic accidents related to this crisis of communication. During the crossing in 2014, there was a similar incident of death of many patients due to sacking of school students, shedding in the water and not getting boat during the time.
Floating bridges and jumping people
It is seen from a distance that blue and orange-colored floats floating above greenish water. Whenever it is seen blue and orange reflection in the water of the bamboo. Beautiful scenes, first of all, anyone might think that the foreign company has made a low cost, the bridge. No, without the help of any engineering or technical knowledge, the bridge has been created by the efforts of common people of the village. The floating bridge has changed the picture of the population. As a result of the bridge, the people of nine villages in the neighborhood have undergone radical change. People from all walks of life, including school, college students, can now easily cross the border. Villagers hope that due to this bridge, rapid development will take place.
The bridge that was created suddenly, is not the same. For this, a small test was conducted first. Creates a 20-foot-length and 8-foot-wide frame, placed on 16 plastic drums. It successfully managed to float with 32 people. Due to this, the villagers got very courageous and proceeded towards a large project. In August, the construction work of the main bridge started. Villagers have volunteered to work in the construction work as well as villagers. The local Deputy Commissioner, Ashraf Uddin, inaugurated the bridge in a thousand feet long floating on the second day of the year. Since then, the people of the village are happily using the bridge. Crossing the minor vehicles is the bridge.
The bridge was done, the people of hundreds of passenger journeys ended, but what would happen to the people who ran the boat and ran the family? They have been arranged too. Four men, who used to navigate the boat earlier, are trying to cross the bridge. Earlier, the villagers used to pay five paisa per month and one year for the boat to cross the rice. They will be able to use the bridge at the same cost as before. But people in other areas will have to cross the money. From this money will be given a part of the middlemen.
The details of the bridge
The frame made of iron bars has two rows on plastic drums. The drums are strapped with round angles with frames. There is a small space between the two rows of drums. Iron sitel has been given as a patron on the frame. Iron railing is on both sides of the bridge. According to a report of Daily Prothom Alo, the cost of construction of this bridge is about 50 lakhs (disagreement). It took five months to build 1 thousand feet tall and 8 feet wide bridges. Floating on 839 plastic drums. It has 800 ml iron angle and bar. 250-feet wide iron seats have been added to the bridge. In the dry season, the water of the bamboo leaves dry up, so the bamboo made 300 feet connecting bridge has been added on both sides of the bridge. With the bridge, people can travel with small vehicles like rickshaw, van, fishing, motorcycle, autorickshaw etc.
Plan
About five years ago, Asaduzzaman, a local madrasa teacher, was talking to some people sitting beside Bamr. Then the sandal machine was being sanded from the bamboo, the machine was installed on several plastic drums, which float in the water. Suddenly, a heavy machine appears to be floating in this manner and comes to the head of a bridge. He thought, in the same way if the bridge was built with the drum, it must also float.
Then he discussed with the people of the village about the matter. Everyone had the consent of his plan. After a few rounds of discussions with the villagers, the 'Jhampa Village Development Foundation' was formed. Although the bridge began to build for a few months, its process has begun long ago. The process started with the meeting with villagers on January 19 last year. Without the government or political type of financial assistance, the bridge is constructed by villagers. 60 poor and middle-aged villagers
