I've often wondered, "Why is Old Bagan such an important historical landmark in Asia?" Until I finally made it to the site this year. My curiosity was at its peak, and I found the answer. Curiosity often leads to answers.
I'm currently at Pyathetgyi Temple, one of the largest temples in Old Bagan. It's not the only one, but one of a kind. This temple bears witness to the history of Buddhist civilization in Old Bagan.
This temple is unique because it differents from the previous temples i visit. However, despite the large number of temples here, none are alike. From the structure, foundation, size, and even interior details, the Buddha statues inside also differ, as each era had its own kingdoms, and each was built by a king as a way of legitimizing his leadership.
Although almost all the temple buildings in Old Bagan share a common characteristic: red clay. The clay bricks are used and the construction is made from it. Each brick is built without a single cement stain, using a small amount of sand on each layer, and some are coated with cement, while others are not. However, almost all are constructed from unsanded brick.
This is what gives each temple the strength and stability of a large structure. Of course, each temple is built quite tall, with foundations unlike those found in today's houses. Almost all the temples here are over 6 meters tall.
Pyathetgyi Temple is characterized by its large, open Buddha statue. The Buddha statue faces the exterior, but is still cover by a brick canopy. It's still in the same building, but it creates a distinct ambiance compared to other temples. You can feel the breeze blowing, making everyone praying in front of the Buddha statue feel the refreshing sensation of nature.
In fact, in almost all temples, you won't feel too hot inside because each temple has high walls that allow air to enter. Sometimes, the building is very humid, like entering a cave. This is why many people engage in activities inside the temple.
Did you know that temples hold immense significance for the people of Old Bagan? They even serve as the center of their lives. Here, they can socialize and even exchange greetings. Some even sell souvenirs and other items to support their lives.
See you the next time hive friends!

Hi! Let me introduce myself, its me Wita.
I'm just a woman who wants to write whatever's on my mind. I really enjoy cooking, occasionally traveling, and doing whatever I like. I want to live like a bird flying freely in nature. But I know I'm only human. So, I can only write freely like a bird that can fly with its two wings.
I'm usually very interested in new things. Let me be creative with at least these writings. I welcome any suggestions, as long as you mention them politely in the comments section. We can have a free discussion every now and then.
Don't think too much of me as you see in my posts. I'm just sharing what I have, and some of it is actually quite enjoyable to post. It's just that I don't really like posting bad things. I hope we continue to work together to build this Hive community.
