I have a confession...I did actually hail from south of the border (keep it quiet that's a State secret, especially until State of Origin is over), however I have lived in Queensland longer than that other state, so I figure by osmosis or some other absorption or genetic type process I've now become an official Queenslander! Certainly my aversion to the cold would seem to support this contention...
So not that the whole of Queensland isn't spectacular, but, we do just have the balance perfect here on the Sunny Coast. One hour from our State capital (affectionately referred to as Briz Vegas), two hours from the Gold Coast (or the Goldie) and without all the people (except during the school holidays). But that's OK, because we just stay home until all the rubber neckers (sorry, tourists) go home... (problem solved!)
But I digress (got a bit of a problem with that) I think I will just let the Sunny Coast speak for itself...
Let's start at the north shall we and the beautiful Noosa..
Then coming a little further south we have the equally beautiful Coolum Beach, with the same pristine beaches of the Goldie, but without all the crowds...
Moseying just a little further south we have the amazing Cotton Tree and the mouth of the Maroochydore River.. See we do high rise we just didn't go postal about it (that little outburst at Mooloolaba notwithstanding)...
Just so you don't think its all laid back and zen, we can get our blood pressure up and have a wee bit of excitement too!
Now as if Maroochy and Cotton Tree weren't spectacular enough let's just roll right into Mooloolaba one of my favourite places to have a coffee while posting on steemit and still catch a nice view of the Pacific (a bit tricky to see in the background of this shot but didn't want to overload you, yet!)
We have so much astounding natural scenery on the Sunny Coast that that we even have built a toilet with an amazing view...
And this is one angle of the view from the "Loo with a View" in Mooloolaba... Not too shabby!
Still going south we head towards more miles of fantastic beaches along the Kawana Waters coast. But seriously how much gorgeous beach can you poor people take!
So lets ease the torture up a bit and move slightly inland to the sparkling tropical canals of Kawana Waters and hit the tavern for a quick break... OK, so still beautiful water and of course all these yachts have ocean access and still a perfect spot for a wine and some great food!
Feeling weak at the knees yet? Excellent, because there's plenty more where that came from!
So while I have you in a weakened state... This is my other favourite spot to sit and post on steemit. Perfect sea breezes to keep you at the perfect temperature and as you can see not much in the way of crowds and my favourite coffee shop is about 30 seconds away and they serve a great mocha in a bucket...Heaven!
Now we are getting to the southern end of the coastal strip. With Bribie Island in the foreground (the little patch of sand and scrub is actually 57 sq km and has a population over 16,000) and Golden Beach in the background, Caloundra to the right and the Glasshouse Mountains in the very far background. (Ah picture perfect)...
Now I could go on, and on, and on, and on, but there really are Geneva Convention rules about torture and those of you who don't live here on the Sunshine Coast have probably suffered almost enough... but as the volcano that spat out the Glass House Mountains millions of years ago really is the piece de resistance I thought I would leave you all with this...
There is so much more but I'm still working my way out of the 80s so steem on until I catch up with today!
