In this world where money can drive actions more efficiently and much faster, will there be any deeds that don't require to get paid? Yes, it exists! As you read my blog through the end, you'll understand how.
A true form of kindness is an innate nature that one possesses and it doesn't require any rewards in return. Before I have experienced it firsthand, I never understand why people would do it for years, risk their lives, and even waste their time without getting anything or have reimbursements for the resources that they have used up. Sometimes, instead of receiving compliments, they are even criticized and accused of mishandlings when all they have done was to lend a hand in cases of emergencies. It's just sad to witness such scenarios where people would be demanding instead of being grateful. Thus, I couldn't really understand why would they still show kindness to such people who doesn't deserve it.

Volunteerism
Two years ago, when I was still a freshman in College, I joined the medical team in our National Service Training Program. The main reason I joined wasn't because I'm more inclined to give medical assistance but to reduced the arduous tasks which I would be required to take every Saturday assembly. Little did I know that this would be the very first step that leads me to volunteer myself for this kind of things.
Every formation, my patient were becoming more and more, and has different cases which sometimes require adequate proficient knowledge in handling such conditions. However, my school doesn't provide such advanced trainings. It pushed me to sign up in an Emergency Rescue Training outside our school's jurisdiction to feed my hunger for learning and I can be more efficient in my tasks. That day was a life-changer! Ever since then, I've been into volunteer works inside and outside our school premises.
I have more involved in different community engagements after I finished the training. As I was doing such things, I felt fulfillment and joy for doing it until such time where I was the one who is suggesting to facilitate a program and opening myself for all volunteer works that we have in our organization.
I've been on Ambulance Operations and helped those people with their lives in the line. I have to stay up most of the night until the job was done, but it gave me such a relief seeing that our patients are safely turned over to the nearest hospitals. Surely, it is exhausting mentally and physically but I was emotionally content and craving for more.
It doesn't stop me there. I don't just lend a hand to save people but I also have summoned all my courage, conquered my fears, and use my voice to impart knowledge and to share my vision to the young people in my area. For over a year now, I've been receiving invitations to teach Basic First Aid in schools and universities. It doesn't matter for me if I receive something or not, as long as I'm happy for what I'm doing, I'll do my best shot and show up on the exact date and time.
My mission have made a successful connection to the youth of my community college; united for empowering people and saving lives. It's acknowledged and thriving until now that some of the Rescue Instructors I know was volunteering to help us train the organization we created inside the school premises. For now, I'm not alone anymore giving medical assistance during school events, I already have a team with me sharing my vision and mission.
That's where I finally understood the questions and wonders I have in mind. Kindness doesn't require anything in return but only the right heart to perform the good deeds passionately. It may start from doing small things, but as Lao Tzu said, "Great acts are made up of small deeds. Do something from the heart and let the heavens reward you instead someday.
