FOR the fourth time, the Indonesian Literature Student Association (Himasa) from the Indonesian Language Education Study Program FKIP Malikussaleh University held the 4th Literary Arts Performance (Pesta Sastra) at GOR ACC Uteunkot Campus, Lhokseumawe, from 11-12 January 2022. This activity became an opportunity to hone student creativity in the field of art which is expected to become a routine agenda and can attract more people
Head of Himasa Malikussaleh University, Nur Azizah, said that the Sastra-4 Festival featured several art activities such as stage theater, short fiction films, monologues, virtual theatre, puppet plays, poetry, and others, all of which were centered at the GOR Uteunkot Campus.
"This activity is an annual agenda that is carried out to complete the final drama course and as a competition event in the field of drama," said Nur Azizah at Uteunkot Campus, Lhokaeumawe, Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
This year Himasa carries the theme “Listening to History through Performing Arts”. The stage theater shows the story of "Jejak Putroe Neng" and the film takes the same theme with a different storyline entitled "Titah Putroe Neng". Both scripts were written by Abu Rahmat which were adapted from the novel Putroe Neng by Ayi Jufridar.
The monologue staging carries the theme of Raja Bakoy, which includes a mythical story. While the virtual staging takes a free theme. "The purpose of this literary festival is to hone the creativity of students, to get to know history through drama," added Azizah.
The drama teacher, Syahriandi M Pd, said that it is important to carry out activities like this so that students can gain a lot of experience and knowledge.
"Through works of art, they can also strengthen these prospective teachers to go to school when they graduate from college, in addition to participating in making the campus proud in the art world," explained the drama course supervisor.
The head of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Safriandi M Pd, said that the themes in this year's Literary Performances touched on the Spice Route in Aceh.
"This is clear evidence of our support for the proposal for the Spice Route in Aceh as a world heritage in 2024," said Safriandi.
This Literary Pesta was first conceived by Abu Rahmat in 2017, at that time only stage theater and short fiction films were created. “I love art, and I was very happy when I was invited to join the Indonesian Language Education Study Program FKIP Universitas Malikussaleh as a practicing teacher in the field of literature. The students from the first Festival of Literature until now are very enthusiastic," said Abu Rahmat.
The chairman of the committee as well as the chairman of Himasa, Nur Azizah, revealed that the Literature Festival this time was held in the midst of difficulties due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, they only had a narrow amount of time to prepare for the Literature Festival compared to similar activities in previous years which had a long period of time.
"We have less than two months to prepare. Whereas in previous years the preparation was carried out for up to six months. However, we are still optimistic that this activity will be successful," said Azizah.
Besides the involvement of the Literature Student Creative Party
students, the Language Festival was also enlivened by participants from outside the campus, including students from a number of high schools in Lhokseumawe and North Aceh. The students enlivened the Literature Festival with poetry reading activities. Likewise, the Acehnese writer, Hamdani Mulya, was also present to encourage the enthusiasm of the students to continue working. [Ayi Jufridar]
