So as some of my followers know I quit seemingly-perfect-but-different-inside job which I got from college , It used gave me everything we want when we wanted to land in our when out of college - a medical insurance , a good work-life balance , a fat paycheck .
But soon I realized job is not just about money I was tired of the corporate culture there . The ass-licking hierarchy , the unsatisfying and monotonous work
I decided to give it a shot to quit and after a long hunt of 1.5 months I got into another - A not-so-known startup which paid almost the half the salary then the previous one. Still there were reasons I chose it -
1)Interesting Technology - The combination of ERP with AI and ML was something damn fascinating and that was something that made me interested in the Job
2)Smaller team More authority - They just had 6 developers in the team , I was the seventh one to join which meant there was more of teamwork than a hierarchy . It even came out to be true later our seniors act more like our mentors than coworkers
3)Challenging Work I love challenges and the growing list of clients with a limited sources made it much challenging than I could've imagined that adds so much to my learning
4)Ambitious CEO - I feel
The ambitious the leader , the better the growth of the team
He is really a good leader and works for the growth of company day and Night .
Also with great merits comes great demerits too -
1)Lower Pay The pay I get is just sufficient to pay my rent and have foods along with conveyance and the money I make from drop-shipping is mostly going to investments of many kinds. So goodbye to lavish dinners and matinee shows on weekends
2)Hectic Work hours - With greater power comes great responsibility. Just like my previous company was flexible with work-hours this one is too with a different context
Here flexible work hours means they can give you a call whenever they want.
I even had to work on a weekend :(
3)Pressure and Deadlines-As the clients trusts the company less , we need to give our best even after being so low in numbers , Its just been 2 weeks and been around 10 instances when CEO is standing over my head to get things done .
How is it blessing in disguise
1)Lower pay is making me learn to manage my finances better. Today I spent my evening playing soccer with some kids in locality rather than spending on some big movie tickets and overpriced coke.
2)The challenging work is making me learn a lot of things in a real quick time.I value Stack overflow more now :)
3)The pressure and hectic work hours make me tired enough to have a great sleep
