Yalda is the name of a persian celebration that iranian people celebrate it at last night of autumn and the longest and darkest night of the year. Iranians stay awake until dawn at Yalda Night since many thousands years ago.
Families try to gather in the homes of their grandparents on time and sit around the yalda table, a table of special edible..
They eat fruits such as watermelon and pomegranate. also cotton candy, nut and boiled beetroot are eaten at that night. Grandparents tell their grandchildren some interesting stories. conversation, telling stories and jokes, reading poems out loud such as "Hafez book" is something they do.
In my city #Tabriz, a big and populous city of Iran, parents cook and make some favorite foods such as "kofte tabrizi" and sweets, nuts, gifts, and beautiful baskets of fruits to their daughter and her husband.
It is a very great night that all the families enjoy it.
These are butter cookies that were covered with Royal Icing, I cooked these for my lovely family and took the second photo when we were getting ready to go to our grandparents home... Hope you enjoy our persian custome, also my cookies ☺
