We have now more than an average of 1 curie upvote per edition! @Sarez and @Tristancarax are tied out in front, closely followed by @Brisby, @Calluna, @Cyemela and @Dirge. I think. This is frankly copied and pasted from previous contest posts, as I'm trying to do this all between afterwork and feeding my dogs. Either way, let's show the amazing Curie community our solidarity and vote for @Curie as one of Steem's witnesses! š

@gaby-crb
The old crazy woman wonders inside. She witnesses the death and destruction. Then she decides to take some of the bounty for herself. For a price, of course.ā The storytelling here is sharp and to the point. I enjoyed how she inverted the character of the āhot woman in loveā around. Great!
@sarez
We see blood and horror then sets up a conflict situation. A man and a girl, but he canāt safely jump past the fences with the girl. So our protagonist has to try and be the hero. Thereās a basic, simple situation of danger here, and I was worried while reading it! The small detail about her standing on his feet, which is what children do, made the scene all the more realistic.
Also, her military training was hinted at by her knowledge of different gunshots. Who is she? How did someone with her training end up begging on the street? Maybe next timeā¦
@oivas
I like the idea of two homeless folks just hanging out. Homeless is horrible, I know, but as fiction characters, the concept of the beggar or street urchin or whatever is always intriguing.
Just like a super-powered demon living on the street. We donāt get much of who she is, but we get enough for the tale of blood and gore to make sense. Great stuff! And congrats on the vote!
@tristancarax
Well, I had originally intended L to be an old homeless woman. So the fact that Kelly is into her? Well, we all have our kinks, I guess. Does it work as the story? Yes, and takes the story to a different level with the character of Kelly, the bartender (with a soft spot for old mommas) who chooses a life of crime. My favorite part of the story? That L is let in. But we all know that wonāt end well for anybody.
@ntowl
You were fine on the time!
Just like the old lady, L, pulled by an unseen force to do the biding of the unknown. Sheās seen Carcosa, but she canāt remember it until the gunman shoots her down. I enjoyed her supernatural rebirth to a kind of chaotic neutral force of fire, able to melt them down to ash. Where will she wind up next?
