Hi guys~~ Today... I have no energy left to wrork on a new drawing XD Or think, for that matter. I was trapped inside the acid room all day, trying to leach out metals and do 4 acid digestion on a bulk shipment of 300+ samples. Hopefully tomorrow, my 100+ samples won't be be such a pain so that I can still draw or do something a bit more productive other than cook dinner.
I'm not here to rant though, I'm here today because a certain someone wouldn't believe I'm a decent charcoal artist too. He has that impression that pen and ink is my forte. Unbeknownst to him, I learned charcoal first before ink because back in highschool, my uncle still bought art materials and he taught me how to use charcoal on the go because they're fast to work with. Can't say he was wrong though. I could finish a piece before in just 2 hours. Compared to when I use pens/inks where sometimes, 4 hours isn't enough for me to get all the details I want.
So so sooooo here are some of the few pieces of charcoal drawings I've managed to keep throughout the years.
I was pretty sure I had more, but I guess they weren't in my google drive ;;n;; I'll look for them another time, when I still have the energy, that is. Or if I don't get a new shipmet of samples to process for this week.
So this bridge... It's actually a torn down bridge my late grandfather and I used to hang out at. I never really had an idea of how old that bridge was, but by 2013-ish??? It was replaced with a new, more modern looking bridge made out of metal so I really don't get to hang out there because it got narrower and people stopped maintaining it so it just kind of looks scary to me now. But before, it was a really nice place to go to. And this was basically all I could do with how I remembered it.
This one is my favourite OwO I got this lady's inspiration from the movie "Burlesque" which starred Christina Aguilerra. She was so hot on that movie and she really looked like she enjoyed what she did so that's what I tried to portray here UwU
This one was one of my first environment studies OwO I forgot which lake this was, but I remember it was somewhere in Rizal. This was the lake near my college friend's house UwU I was out that afternoon, sketching because I couldn't fall asleep even after we went swimming and fishing in the morning. IDK I just really wanted to capture the view because I wasn't sure if i would still be the same the next time I visited again.
Sub urban fan art that doesn't really look like him. But, to be fair, I was just sketching to pass the time. I wasn't even copying properly, I just wanted to draw at those times XD I was so stressed with work then (my first job) and I just couldn't stop my hands from being so fidgetty, so I sketched, and it came out alright. Just not so detailed.
An older take on Charon UwU It might not be obvious much, but I do like greek mythology UwU
Of all the mythological creatures/names, Charon is my favourite. Not because of the aesthetics, but simply because his excistence is crucial to the circulation of souls. He's well respected by gods and mortals, and he doesn't ask much, just a gold coin in exchange for delivering your soul to hades. He is also why the greeks are buried with a coin in their mouth. Okay, that's enough of being a nerd UwU
This one, I'm not proud of because it came out weird. I remember making this while I was crying because my last boyfriend broke up with me through call and I just needed an outlet for my emotions. Needless to say, I haven't dated again since then, but I have had lots of flings. I still look at this though, and I still see all the emotions I poured into it and how I wished I could just drown.
This one is an object study I liked UwU because it was my first time ever receiving a gift from my sisters, and I was happy they got me white charcoal. I had to really show them that the gifts they got me was put to good use, so there it was!
I enjoyed going on this little trip down memory lane UwU I should do this more often. I don't think my old art (the ones I kept) is that bad. So who knows, maybe I'll upload them collectively too UwU but for now, I shall try to recover my energy because there's still samples to process tomorrow ;;A;;
