When I think about the world I get sad. I think that the human race is heading towards a dark age. This is caused by the end of Moore's law and the almost total stop in processing power of CPU. Although the rot of this end to n cubed has yet to even begin we will see within the next few years the first market impacts. This does mean that during the next few years on circuit optimisation will take place where it can be applied but at some point all this growth will be expended. So we have reached the end of the transistor miniaturisation. And the human race has nothing else to push forward technological development.
This stagnation will allow all countries to equalise with technology and that means it is time for war. I expect between 2025 and 2030 civil war will start in what remains of the EU. I assume eastern Europe will leave the EU before this point and the remaining EU countries will deploy the EU to counter anti EU protests. This will cause the local population to attack what have been for most of their countries existence an enemy army from other EU countries.
The USA will push it's mil net into optimised hardware. no generic cpus, This will get them out until about 2030 as well with the upgrade process having a Keynesian effect across their economy but that will dry up with the introduction of gen six fighters. At this point it will be only a matter of time before China and Russia have parity in optimised hardware. With no path to upgrade the processing power both weapons development and general technological development with drop massively.
If the USA has any sense it would use a preemptive nuclear strike against both China and Russia as without it's technological advantage the USA will be reduced to a great power not a super power. Using a preemptive strike will prevent the rising civil unrest internally. The public do not need to be told the USA struck first.
As for China and Russia both are looking with hunger at the end of technological development but both have internal problem Russia has the advantage over China as their democratic process acts as a pressure release which is reinforced with a brutal justice system and the massive natural resources it contains . China will not be so lucky gas and oil lacking with a massive internal unrest I predict China will be the nation to fire the first ICBM.
