Continuing on from yesterdays post....
While I was making a mess anyway I figured I should sort out my dry lips that matched my dry face and make myself lip balm.
It's not that I don't have products, I do but they're all pre~baby products. Ever since I got pregnant I've been extra conscious of what I'm putting on and in my body.
It's not even just that either, we've done a huge overhaul of most things like getting rid of our teflon coated pans, switching over to stainless steel. Food containers and jugs are all glass now....
So anyway! I've actually been hanging to do this experiment for a while and in my mind I had a really simple straightforward recipe. I mean come on! It's lip balm it shouldn't be rocket science or need anything much.
Ingredients
2 tsp beeswax
2 tsp coconut oil
2 tsp local honey
1 dash of organic vanilla essence
And just like the face cream simply throw everything in the pyrex jug, put the jug in the saucepan with the boiling water.
Wait for the beeswax to melt, pour the mix in the sterilise container and whip baby, whip!
That's it! So easy, so natural & really basic
Here they are today.
My only problem with these are they're super tough. They're solid actually 🤣🤣 which tells me I need to modify the recipe and either use less beeswax or use more coconut oil to get a more liquid/softer mix.
That aside, I really love the lipbalm.
Love the fact I know exactly what's in it and that its basically edible. The other thing I like is that if you get the containers mixed up and use the lipbalm on your face, its ok!!
I know, I did it this morning and put lip balm on my face and I smelled like honey and vanilla all morning 🤣. It also kept me moisturised for a while too, so I was happy!
The real take away from this experiment is, how truly simple it is to make your own lip balm.
Considering how easy it is to make, with the simplest ingredients no less, it makes me wonder why some lip balms are loaded with artificial ingredients. 🤔
Happy Saturday peeps!
