You Don’t Always Get What You Want But You Get What You Need
Wednesday my running partner and I had a scheduled run at 2pm. Even while making the plan to run a few days prior I was thinking that it might be hot and gross out. But...I was so so hopeful that it would be cooler because of how close it was to the start of Fall. Silly lady...calendars mean nothing in Georgia.
I mean....this is me today after run at the pool...crazy, right?
So...we set out on this dumbass hot as hell adventure at 2pm agreeing at the beginning to just go out for an easy 3 Miles. However, by about 1 mike in my partner says “I don’t think I can do this anymore.”
At first I’m not sure what she’s talking about because not finishing a planned run with her would be a very rare occurrence. I ask her if she’s ok, she says yes but that it’s just too brutal to continue.
Agreeing to walk a little ways more before we turned around we finally made it back to the club and looking at the data it wasn’t that bad of a run at all considering.
Today was a totally different story. I didn’t have a run scheduled at all. Didn’t even wear my regular running shoes. It’s my client/running partners birthday and she has something planned with another friend today.
LUCKY FOR ME her friend had to cancel and she reached out to me to see if I would want to join her for a birthday run. Uh duh!!! Besides a 9:30am run is way way better than a 2pm run at this point in the year.
We headed out and did the round we fondly call the “Perfect 5k”. Much better run and way higher spirits!
