It's a pleasure to share another visit to the Cumaná Cathedral, located between Catedral Street and Salom Street in the city's historic center, very close to Andrés Eloy Blanco Square, the cathedral fountain, and a bus stop known as La Ceiba, which is very busy and connects to different parts of the city, specifically those located on Gran Mariscal Avenue and Carúpano Avenue.
This church stands out for its striking structure with two towers, several columns on the front, and a central symbol signifying its status as a metropolitan cathedral. The spiral design on the back of the roof was added when it was elevated to metropolitan cathedral status. The columns and towers are light yellow and blue, and the towers feature semicircular windows with white grilles. A white perimeter fence surrounds the church, and there are steps leading to the main entrance. Two additional side entrances provide access.
In another view, we see the structure of the towers, which have a straight top. We can also see part of the fence that borders this beautiful structure. At the front, there are cup-shaped planters located on either side of the entrance. On the tower, we can see the shape of the windows and the high-relief columns that adorn them. At the base, there is also a blue band, and we can see the perimeter fence on the sides. One of the towers' roofs is covered with tiles, and the towers themselves are made up of four sections where the windows are located. At the main entrance, there are three rectangular doors; the central one is the widest and the one usually used to enter. We see the other planter located on the other side of the fence, and in detail, the towers, the mezzanine railings, and the main door, which is made of wood, and next to it, two blue cubicles.
Hola amigos viajeros es gusto saludarles, deseando que tengan un excelente y bendecido fin de semana, es un placer compartir una nueva visita a la iglesia Catedral de cumaná ubicada entre la calle Catedral y la calle Salom en el casco histórico de la ciudad, muy cerca de la plaza Andrés Eloy Blanco, la fuente de la catedral y una parada de autobuses conocida como la Ceiba, la cual es muy concurrida y conduce a diferentes puntos de la ciudad específicamente los ubicados en la avenida Gran Mariscal y la y la avenida Carúpano.
Esta iglesia destaca por su llamativa estructura con dos torres, varias columnas en la parte frontal y un símbolo ubicado en el centro el cual corresponde a su categoría como catedral metropolitana en la ciudad, el diseño en forma de hélice que se observa en la parte posterior del techo fue asignado cuando se elevó a catedral metropolitana, es de color amarillo claro y azul las columnas tienen también el mismo color, al igual que las torres donde se observan ventanas semicirculares con rejas de color blanco, alrededor cuenta con una cerca perimetral de color blanco y tiene los escalones para ingresar por la puerta delantera, a los lados también hay acceso por dos por las puertas de los costados.
En otra vista tenemos la estructura de las torres que tienen una terminación recta, se observa también parte de la cerca que bordea esta hermosa estructura, en la parte delantera hay jardineras en forma de taza ubicadas a cada lado de la entrada, en la torre se observa la forma de las ventanas y las columnas en alto relieve que las adornan, en la base también tiene una franja de color azul y observamos el cercado perimetral en los costados, el un techo de las torres está forrado con tejas, y las torrres a su vez integradas por cuatro fragmentos donde se ubican las ventanas, en la entrada principal hay tres puertas rectangulares, la centro es la más amplia y la que usualmente se usa para ingresar, vemos la otra jardinera ubicada al otro lado de la cerca y en detalle las torres, las rejas de la mezzanina y la puerta principal que es de madera y al lado dos cubículos de color azul.
My recent visit to this beautiful church was to find out about the date for wedding blessings, so I took the opportunity to tour its spaces, which I love, and explore the exterior. After taking photos of the front, I moved to the sides. These shots show the structures of the niches, the red roof, and the many windows the church contains. There's also a partial view of the towers. The back of the church has a circular shape, and you can also see the rectory and another view of one of the towers.
On the other side, which coincides with the Antonio José de Sucre High School, we see one of the side doors, the staircase leading to it, and the cubicles located in the same direction as the one we saw previously. We also have a more complete view of the cubicles and part of the church's structure. Returning to the front, we see the fence and the checkerboard pattern of the floor, which is made of granite and combines beige and white colors. In another view, we see the high school, part of the column, and the floor with its striking squares. Something that caught my attention is that there are several white crosses on the fence; in the photograph, we see one of them, the planter, the educational center, and a beautiful garden located next to the Cathedral. Then I went inside and took several photographs of the arches and furnishings of the church. The floor is ceramic, but in the side aisles, along the walls, there is a design with white and green flowers. Most of the windows have beautiful and colorful stained glass, such as the ones we can see in the photos. At the bottom of the interior walls, there are a strip of wood covering approximately 50 cm in width, then we have a view of a small wooden altar and the wooden-clad columns with several vertical lines.
Mi nueva visita a esta hermosa iglesia tenía como objetivo buscar una información sobre la fecha para las bendiciones matrimoniales, así que aproveché para hacer un recorrido y ver sus espacios que me encantan, además explorar el exterior, luego de un paseo fotográfico por la parte frontal, me dirigí hacia los lados, en estas tomas se observan las estructuras de los cubículos, el techo que es de color rojo y las muchas ventanas que contiene la iglesia, también una vista parcial de las torres, en la parte posterior tiene forma circular y se observa también la sede de la casa parroquial y una nueva vista de una de las torres.
En el otro costado que coincide con el Liceo Antonio José de Sucre, observamos una de las puertas laterales, la escalera que conduce hacia ella y los cubículos ubicados en la misma dirección del que vimos anteriormente, tenemos también una vista más completa de los cubículos y parte de la estructura de la iglesia, de vuelta a la parte frontal vemos la cerca y la forma de damero que tiene el piso, el cual es de granito y combina los colores beige y blanco, en otra vista observamos el Liceo, parte de la columna y el piso con su llamativos cuadros, algo que me llamó la atención es que en la cerca hay varias cruces de color blanco, en la fotografía vemos una de ellas, la jardinera, el centro educativo y un hermoso jardín ubicado al lado de la Catedral, luego entré y tomé varias fotografías de los arcos y utensilios de la iglesia, el piso es de cerámica pero en los pasillos laterales hacia la pared, tienen un diseño con flores blancas y verdes, las ventanas en su mayoría tienen hermosos y coloridos vitrales, tales como los que podemos observar en las fotos, en la parte inferior de las paredes internas hay una franja de madera que cubre aproximadamente un ancho de 50 cm, luego tenemos una vista de un pequeño altar de madera y las columnas recubiertas de madera con varias líneas verticales.
