World Sight Day is a time for visual health promotion all around the globe, the same way we have Valentine’s Day, Easter and Christmas, we have World Sight Day, it is celebrated on the second Thursday of October every year and during this time all health workers and professionals do their best in promoting visual health in their respective communities irrespective of where you may find yourself.
Last Year, at such a time bettervision was privilege to have the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful ocular occasion and even more thrilling was the fact that members of the project together with so many other organisations had the chance to go on a mega outreach to so many locations to screen the eyes of individuals within each locality for free, provide free consultation, free glasses and education on lots of pathologies and diseases, both systemic and ocular related.
Some members of was assigned to the Ayigya locality whereas some also went to Ayeduase all in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana, West Africa. It was a thrilling adventure and a wonderful experience giving back to the community, having the opportunity to practice your skill and making new friends with others from different organisations, instituitions and hospitals.
This year, we are looking forward to a more bigger and better outreach program, now that is on the path to acquiring our own instruments with the help of
and our fellow steemians, hopefully we will be able to cover more localities and look at more people than we were able to do before. The theme for this years’ World Sight Day Celebration is Eye Care Everywhere on this note we would like to encourage each and every steemian irrespective of your profession to help observe World Sight Day by being a patron of good eye health and telling a friend to go for eye check up every once in a while. We would also be enlightening you on some basic visual conditions so may get something to share with you loved ones on World Sight Day.
Have a lovely Day and we hope and believe steemit is here to make many great impact in the lives of many people here in Ghana and beyond with .
