Good evening, Steemians.
My mind went numb a few hours ago when criticized me for self-upvoting my own comment. To be fair, I did first upvote the original post. And, I was excited to share some good news and get my comment up closer to the top. This is allowed by the steem platform. So, it got me to thinking...
How much do I really do self-upvotes? There's an APP for that:
Then, it got me to thinking... How much does upvote himself???
Then it got me to thinking about math...
I made 91 votes. 19.7% of those were for myself. It works out to about 18 or 19 self-upvotes.
made 273 votes. 14.2% of those were for himself. It works out to 38 or 39 self-upvotes.
upvotes himself twice as much as I do!
It just so happens that I quit following him about one day before he came and started up this B.S. with me.
BUTT HURT MUCH?
What was my original comment and self-upvote about? I just made a YUGE (for me) cash buy-in of BTC on Feb. 12th and took about 20% profits 8 days later, on Feb. 20th, right before it corrected. Why? Because I watch 's technical analysis, among others, and I do my own TA - and it worked well for me, so I took my profits and bought a bar of silver! I was pretty stoked about that. I can't figure out why
is tweaked out about it. IDK, maybe he's been making some bad trades lately? His dog died? I just have no idea what my 5 cents worth of voting power did to ruin his day??? Did I "rape the rewards pool" of 5 cents?
Now, my "awesome" reputation of 51 is probably going to get "nuked" into oblivion. Is this what makes SteemIt a great place to be? Hardly. I never understood why a guy like has so much $$$ invested in Steem Power, yet he doesn't give a damn about his reputation rating...? Now, I think I understand why: it's because, at the end of the day, he just likes to say whatever he wants to say, and to hell with the consequences of the reputation score - IT DOESN'T MATTER. Whether your reuptation is 70 or -70, your Steem Power is still worth exactly the same
amount of money. Personally, I won't ever invest a lot of $$$ into Steem Power, or a ton of time into trying to "develop an audience" on SteemIt, simply for the fact that anyone with a difference of opinion, or who is just having a bad day, can come along with $100K of their investment and blow minnows out of the water for no good reason at all.
At the end of the day, all I need to do is open up my safe and take a look at my silver stash:
Go right ahead and give my silver stack a big ol' thumbs down - it doesn't care! You can't hack it. It's still just as shiny and as heavy as it always was. And, believe me when I say that my stack just got a whole lot heavier in the last week than it used to be. So, does it matter if my SteemIt account is worth $500 bucks, or .50 cents? Not really. I'm not putting my money into it - because SteemIt is chock full of @$$holes that I don't like - and don't like me. I'm okay with that, and so is my stack. This is why everyone needs a stack! If you don't have a stack, and you have a butt-load of cryptos, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!
One final point I have to make:
correctly points out that my self-upvotes on comments are at a much higher percentage than his own - something like 50% vs. 3%. And, that would be a fair point to make - until you look at the voting weight that each of us bring to the table. The total value of my self-upvotes is close to something like $1 or $2. The value of
self-upvotes is closer to $115. Who is "raping the rewards pool" here???
I rest my case.
This is boring me. I think I'll go and stack some more silver...
Any Questions?
P.S. Good, robust discussion & disagreement, done in good faith, can make a lot of progress. I'm following again, and he upvoted one of my comments. It seems much ado about nothing but, actually, I think it is people trying to understand each other better - even if it takes some jostling about to reach an understanding.
