Krishnagiri
Nestled in the hills south of Bangalore. A 120 km ride which takes you to Krishnagiri, in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.
At Krishnagiri we were in for a pleasant surprise. All the biking groups no matter what their differences! Came together to be united as one community of riders.
A few kilometers before the city, the group was already awaiting us and we rode a few kilometers together before we went on to the venue. The groups rode together in perfect formation with full riding gear and with spectacular views of the rocky mountains Krishnagiri is surrounded with.
At Krishnagiri we were warmly welcomed by Dr. Nandakumar Thogarapalli Munusamy, a rider who has been instrumental in binding together the bikers of the city. In the cool climes of Krishnagiri, we find the warmth of biking brotherhood.
The main attraction of this town is the Jain temple which is dedicated to Goddess Padmavati. The main shrine displays an exquisite mirror work. The interesting thing about this temple is the large snake pit from where the statue of the goddess is believed to have been recovered. A legend has it that in the early 90s a Jain saint had a dream about the statue being buried there, which was believed to have been hidden at this place for protection during a war. It is mandatory to visit the pit first before entering the main shrine. Once a wish is fulfilled, the worshipper needs to tie a coconut wrapped in a red cloth at this pit only. Another attraction of Krishnagiri is the KRP Dam (Krishnagiri Reservoir Project) between Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri.
It was a wonderful meet-up with the bikers of Krishnagiri as part of roadTripUnited.
The meetup was fun all together. Hope I get to travel with doing Steemit meetups all over India 😉
