Hi Dear Steemians! Been active here in Steemit for more than a month now. Joined in January but gone for a hiatus right after. February when I started to get serious and actually enjoyed being here in this new platform. Here, I met new people and interact with them like friends. This blogging community has been so helpful in honing my writing skills. Now, even if it's late, just to celebrate my Steemit journey, I'd like to share with you my heartfelt poem for my 5-year old daughter:
In The Mother's Eye
Hair is unkempt, you're kind of messy,
Playing so hard you are now smelly;
Despite the fact you sweat your belly,
A mother loves you, and oh so dearly.
You make me crazy, mad and dizzy,
But loving you is oh, just that easy;
I know mommy may sound cheesy,
But you color my world more like a daisy.
When you turned 1, 2, 3, 4, and five,
The fact is I cannot anymore hide
You're growing up strong with pride,
Exploring now, far and wide.
I wish you would just stay as little,
When all I hear are laughs and giggles,
When you'll stop crying when I whistle,
When you still can't answer my riddles.
Amazing how time really flies,
There's readiness in your eyes,
No matter how big is your size,
You will remain a baby my eyes.
Oh by the way please not forget,
Things I taught you or you'll regret,
Be gentle, kind and do your best,
Give time to care, love and rest.
I know a lady you'll soon become,
You'll meet someone and be chum,
Maybe your heart will roar like a drum,
But take it easy, right time will come.
I hope you'll stay strong and pretty,
Knowledgeable, loving and witty,
Above all, always keep your dignity,
Make yourself happy, free and healthy.
Be the woman you want to become,
Not only by the influence of some,
Rise up and don't you dare play dumb,
Be sensitive, active, and don't be numb.
I'm your mother, I know you can do,
The things you all been wanting to,
Just be determined to make it true,
Be independent, like what I do.
As you walk through life, just chin up;
If you fall, just smile! It's just a hiccup,
It is never easy to rise on top,
You have to work hard to fill your cup.
As your mother, I will forever be,
You're greatest fan, the best, you'll see;
Because anytime you'll bruise your knee,
Mom is here, arms always ready for thee.
