I've been meaning to post these for a couple of weeks now. I took some pictures of the moon from my backyard using my Canon Powershot camera. I was able to zoom in and capture the texture details on the surface of the moon. These shots are better and WAY closer and WAY bigger than the what we can see with the handy telescope that we have. I'm sure with my brother's 'scope it would be as big or bigger, though. It's pretty impressive to me that a camera can take such good pictures as this.
I had to lower the exposure significantly because it was so bright. It was giving overblown photos, but with the lowered exposure (almost to the full minimum), we see the moon and its details well and it still comes out bright.
Even from farther, we can see the texture of the craters.
This side of it looks like it is in serious need of moisturizer hehe
