I am just messing, if we look at the back of the coin you can make out a 6, that could leave lots of possibilities but in this case with the coin only being release from 1893-1901 the only possible date with a 6 is 1896.
I picked up this coin from my local coin shop for 10% over spot, it's really worn but this is my first shilling with Victoria so I am happy.
