VALUE PLAN IN INDIA
Value Plan has invested around $185,000 in India since February of 2023 which can be broken down under 4 categories -
- Hackathons
- Conferences/Meet-ups/Side Events
- Social Media/Creatives
- Merch
Would love to get feedback from the Hive community as to how the following data analysis can be made better put forward.
HACKATHONS
Using 's POST as reference, I'll try my best to be precise and objectively present the data :
I humbly ask the Hive community to show their support towards these two games that have come to Hive chain through these hackathons -
CONFERENCES / MEET-UPS / SIDE EVENTS
Again, using 's POST as reference, I'll try my best to be precise and objectively present the data :
| Engineering undergraduates Investors BDs KOLs Representatives of projects, chains, exchanges or anyone with a good standing in Indian web3 space | ||
|---|---|---|
| To make Hive widely known in India. Integrate Hive in existing and also upcoming projects. Build relations amongst web3 communities. General branding so that opportunities present themselves to us. | ||
| Onboarding experience was awful as signups failed at conferences. Low retention rate due to lack of follow up meets and calls. Lack of manpower that could enable us to do better. Use of AI to write posts when Hive was introduced as a chain where quality content can be monetized. | ||
| We no longer ask people to write posts during conferences, unless its a gathering or a community of content creators. FINFARM was contracted as a service provider which also took care of our lacking manpower. FinFarm also helped in managing follow up calls with parties that were interested in Hive. | ||
| Hive got listed on LCX exchange We were able to start Chain Chapter community Hive chain had an article published in Outlook Magazine Parties showing interest in buying up HBD for its APR |
There are many follow up calls pending with university professors, KOLs, BDs, potential investors, representative of chains and dApps that showed interest towards Hive and integrating with our chain.
But doing all this alone is a bit too taxing on myself, considering the fact that I do this voluntarily and I have to balance it with my day job and my personal life. I did get help from FinFarm but even that has stopped for now as we are no longer availing their services.
FINFARM
, a marketing service provider that has now devoted itself to Hive quite completely. You can check their Youtube Channel where you'll find Hive's branding. Here's what they have done for Hive so far :
They have been creating content and managing Hive's social handles for India
On their Youtube Channel you'll find Hive branding on their podcast series. Those who are invited to the podcast are told about Hive too.
Ever since they were brought in, they have helped organise and manage Hive sponsored events in India.
They have been promoting Hive in events where they are invited.
They have undertaken trading sessions using HIVE .
With their help we were able to start Chain Chapter.
Here's a FinFarm PRESENTATON that was handed over to Value Plan.
MERCH / SWAGS
In all our hackathons, conferences or meet-ups, participants and attendees are given what we like to call - Hive Welcome Kit.
It comprises of Hive branded folder, sticker sheet, metallic pen, spiral notebook and a cap.
In some cases, Hive branded temperature bottles, bags or a potted plant is handed out to special guests.
These swags were chosen so as to come in handy in day to day work, making sure to have a lasting impression on the person carrying the merch.
Please note that the exact same merch and quantity that can cost us a fortune elsewhere is available in India at extremely low prices, enabling us to continue procuring them whenever needed.
MY THOUGHTS
As of writing this post a lot has happened on Hive. We have gone through HF28, HIVE price has plummeted, VIBES project has shut down, will now be using multi-sig approvals and
's Holozing DHF proposal has passed.
I'd like to share my thoughts on these recent developments and would love to hear back from the community.
- HIVE price and Value Plan
- VIBES and Beat Brawls
- Holozing and MuTerra
ON HIVE PRICE & VALUE PLAN
With HIVE price so low all initiatives in India that were being backed by valueplan have stopped which, on the surface, is understandable. But then I ask myself, will a full stop on DHF expenditure/Value Plan solve the issue of inflation and the low price of HIVE?
The answer I end up with every time is that we need to increase the demand for our 2 native tokens - HIVE and HBD and our marketing efforts should be solely focussed on that.
And thus, I propose that $120,000/year be kept aside for marketing efforts in India and any unused funds be sent back to DHF at the end of the year. The reason behind this is that India tops the ranking chart for Global Crypto Adoption Index and personally I feel Hive is not doing enough to capture this market.
With a $120,000 corpus reserved for India, we will be able to plan ahead instead of rushing at the last moment to sponsor or organise an event. This also saves us a lot of money. But the question is where will this amount be used and will it even give us a satisfactory ROI.
Well, here's what I'd like to do in India -
- Onboarding by playing on our strength - Unique username (no 30+ digit alpha-numeric addresses) & Blogging. I'd like to invite writers from various writer's club, not by telling them that they can earn by publishing their content but by telling them that they can create their own identity on blockchain and use it as a way to copyright their creation.
- Continue hosting hackathons but this time with exclusivity. We will find what existing projects need and use these hackathons to find talented young developers. Also, as a community we will try to get dApps that can be a good addition to our ecosystem.
- Expand the Chain Chapter community by giving lessons on blockchain in various universities with Hive as the base.
- Host Hive exclusive events and meet-ups where we invite BDs and KOLs active in crypto space and have them talk about Hive without having to pay them anything.
- To connect with investors and have them buy up HIVE and HBD, face-to-face meets would be required which would require us to attend and network at major blockchain events happening in India.
- I'd also like to keep our social handles active which is no longer the case as all activities have been suspended for now.
If required, I can create a separate DHF proposal for this, with the amount going to , listing out all the details regarding how we can market Hive in India.
On a side note, what do you all think about opening a Hive cafe in India which accepts HBD as payment? All profits from the cafe goes into buying HIVE and then sent back to DHF. It will cost around $25,000 to open with sufficient capital to last till the cafe becomes self sufficient in its operations and starts making profit. Well, we can get into the details if you all think this is something that can be tried.
ON VIBES & BEAT BRAWLS
It was quite unfortunate to see what happened with VIBES project. But I hope you all agree that it was a really nice initiative taken by . So instead of just giving up on this idea I suggest looking into this new game on Hive called BEAT BRAWLS. Its a card game like UNO but is played by using song cards.
The idea is to bring in artists and create cards for them inside the game if they win. Of course this idea can be developed further by people who were managing VIBES. You all can join BEAT BRAWLS DISCORD HERE.
ON HOLOZING & MUTERRA
I always thought that an upcoming gaming project that is still under development would never be funded by DHF but I stand corrected as has created a precedent by getting his game's, Holozing, DHF proposal passed by a staggering number.
Holozing's DHF proposal passing makes me really happy and keeps my trust in Hive community and working of DHF alive. So I'd like to take this opportunity and talk about MuTerra.
MuTerra has faced similar circumstances as Holozing if not worse. We were able to put forward a working MVP with the revenue generated by selling our Maldives packs. Though it was nowhere near to what Holozing has raised and we don't even have delegation support as they do.
MUTERRA GAME can be checked out by everyone reading this post. You'll see how much we were able to achieve with our limited funds. The current status of the game is that I am using a part of my salary to keep the development moving forward. It is painfully slow but it still being developed. I have not abandoned my vision of launching a retro RPG like Pokemon and Zelda on Hive. It would reel in players from web2 who used to play retro RPGs and we do need more new people coming to Hive.
Unfortunately, the development speed is going slow down further as my expenditures have gone up due to my wedding. Once things settle down for me I will restart the development. The development speed will remain the same once started again unless we get some funding to speed up the process. And due to Holozing's proposal I see a ray of hope for MuTerra.
In addition to the MuTerra gameplay, we have one more thing to offer - A gamified Hive onboarding experience. Imagine having this on during conferences. A unique way to explore the Hive ecosystem at a pace of your choosing. This can take our onboarding process to greater heights!
So, I'd like to ask some of the top supporters of Holozing' DHF proposal :
if you all would be willing to support our DHF proposal if I put it forward?
It will contain all milestones, clear roadmap, proper documentation of where and how the money will be spent, our marketing strategy and how Hive chain will benefit from it.
Also, I do understand that I am no , so would Value Plan key holders
,
,
,
, and
be willing to become the custodian of the amount in case our proposal passes? If yes, I'd write the proposal with all the details.
NOTE : from dCrops has agreed to help us in the development if the proposal passes.
