I finally went through with it. I always wanted to get on the property ladder and when I did 7 years ago my house went up in value by a considerable amount since then. So I was keeping an eye out to get on the Splinterlands property ladder for the last 2 years or so. Land in Splinterlands was pretty expensive last year and I always thought people were mad bastards for buying land before land had even launched. So I held off until the prices decreases. I have learned over the years that FOMO is my enemy and there is always time to see how things pan out in crypto. Well not unless you hopped on $PEPE last week. But I am one of the crypto enthusiasts that is not in an inner circle who knows about things like $PEPE before they explode. So I am left with what I do know about and that is Splinterlands. I knew the price would decrease. In fact I am thinking land will decrease much more but I am happy to average down to the bottom and keep adding on the way. I spent $60 on my rare land plot. Some of the Splinterlands OG's have 100's of plots, a couple of regions and tracts. I am quite happy with one at the moment to have skin in the game. So what did I comandeer?
I was looking at the lowest price of land which ended up being in a place called Jamonji. A common set of land was as low as $49. So what was it about Jamonji that is so cheap. Is it because it has a drug problem, any anti social monster behaviour in the area. I asked around. Granted there are a couple of neighbours who are known to be dodgy fuckers. Definitely bot users and guild bot selectors but there is plenty money in the area. No sign of burglars or any riff raff. Also I like the fact that Jamonji sounds like the film Jumanji which is great. I can see myself being chased by all sort of wild animals around my land so I can shout the words :
Jamonji!!
and I shall return to real life having jumped into the Splinterlands map. Anyway I decided upon stepping up a level to Rare and getting a place in a canyon. It was either that or a swamp and I'll be fucked if I end up like Shrek so canyon it is.
I was also looking for somewhere up the north of the island away from that volcano (We all know what happened in Pompei!). I'm Irish so we don't take well to head either so a nice place up north was always going to be the favourite location. A nice cottage in the middle of nowhere away from all that Mav Chat.
My one stipulation with the Splinterlands platform is I wanted a south facing dwelling and in fairness to Splinterlands they managed to find a place just for me.
So I'm at the top of a canyon looking down on the meandering river and the land below. It's a lovely view. Most likely the view is better looking out than looking up at me on me cliff edge hanging on for dear life. I struggle to have anyone around for tea as it is too much of a hike up to me. Kind of like Everest base camp. But I am away from all the noise so happy enough. So this is the beginning of my kingdom. Has to start somewhere. It may as well be on a cliff face in a canyon.
So overall I am quite happy with my land as it is recession proof. I don't plan to sell anytime soon and I am happy to get on the property ladder in Splinterlands. If you want to join me and check out the play to earn game Splinterlands you can click here and this will bring you to the signup page.
