While I wish this was my cake, sadly it’s not. But I did get a Funfetti cake with Rainbow Chip icing made by the wife for turning 39 yesterday. Sweet!!!
This birthday was really low key actually which was wonderful. I was asked repeatedly what I wanted to do and my answer was the same...nothing. I wasn’t being a grump, I just didn’t want to have any plans or be committed to anything for a change.
So the day started off with just going to work. Normal day. Nothing special or different. Then one of my oldest friends that I rarely see popped by to visit which was awesome. I’ve known Brian since the 2nd grade and while we only live about 30 minutes apart, we just never seem to get together. He’s unfortunately going through the early stages of divorce with his wife. There’s a lot of animosity and I think he just wanted to vent a bit. I gave my advice, listened, and was just enjoying the banter and reminiscing of old fun times.
Then I had to go run out to grab some tape and when I came back, I see just leaving. We caught up for a minute and I’m going to talk him through the process of purchasing some Steem to power up this weekend as he has a few bucks to throw into it and has been killing it overall. If you aren’t following him yet, please do so. He’s been opening up on a very personal level and I know others here can relate in many ways with what he’s discussing. Show the boy some love folks.
The biggest surprise of the day came in the firm of a call from my old friend Sarah who now lives in Michigan. We met in Florida when we were teens and have remained close ever since. We will go large chunks of time without speaking and then pick up like no time had passed. Those are the best types of friends. We caught up for a while after she wished me a “Good Christmas” by mistake and it was great to hear from her.
While working I was alerted through Facebook of the gazillion Birthday wishes being flung my way from family, friends, and acquaintances. I’ll have to be sure to respond to each and every one of those this weekend. Sprinkle in a few B-Day acknowledgements from fine folks like &
and it was just a smooth and nice day.
After work, the wife took me out to dinner at Outback Steakhouse and I ate like a sloppy piece of shit. Of course I enjoyed some tasty Bloomin Onion so I can punish not only my belly but the air of everyone around me for the 15 hours that followed its devouring.
I opened up some presents from the wife which included Bacon Jerky as per a conversation we had a few days earlier about how versitile bacon is. That along with a new Steem shirt, and tickets to see Billy Joel next month at Madison Square Garden!!! Super pumped for that so thanks !!! Love ya!!!
The night concluded with my 14 year old niece Julie, FaceTiming me to sing me a song for my birthday which ended up being this song below. She’s completely ridiculous and I can honestly say I could see her doing something in the world of comedy. She just lives for the laughs and eats it up. When she bombs she just moves on and doesn’t let it get her down. Onto the next joke. Love her. Lol
