It has been almost two years since this pandemic radically changed our lives. This happened in a totally unexpected way, we were all unprepared for such a threat. We have learned that we can live without many of the things that seemed definitive in our lives.
So many ways to enjoy the life that we are used to them being definitive and often ignored because we didn't suspect that they can disappear so easily, well, a long introduction to say that one from my passions, of my family, is going to different shows. Cinema, theater, opera, concerts ...
An introduction so long to say this weekend I was able to go back to theater after almost two years of break.
Something that in the past did not mean anything special, it was an almost weekly habit to see a show, now it is an event that makes this weekend very special.
An event so special for me because it brings back the hope of returning to normal life before! So special that is marked this weekend and makes me want to share, briefly, how this happened. At the same time, you can see a special place in Bucharest, the National Theater located in the most famous square, the University Square.
Access by subway, the subway is the best means of transport in this city. Immediately out of the subway we can see the emblematic buildings of the city center, the Intercontinental hotel, and the National Theater.
The National Theater building is one of the buildings that I like a lot, its architecture is inspired by the way the Romanian peasant houses look, of course, stylized and modernized.
The most pleasant moment is when I am in front of the theater when I know that I have arrived on time, even earlier, and I can relax looking at this square, a part of the square in front of the theater. I say this because, most of the time, I manage to be late, to arrive after the show starts.
In fact, the pleasure is gradual, it increases as I approach the room where I am going to watch the play. Until then, I have to go through the entrance and check the tickets ...
The distance to the auditorium is long and because the theater building is very large, the largest in the country. It is not only the largest building but it is also the most beautiful.
Finally, the show is about to begin, the last and most pleasant wait. The spectators are less than usual, so are the rules of the pandemic.
I forgot to say what I saw. Chekhov's "Three Sisters" in a free and modern direction, which allowed itself to change the play, directed by one of the best and most controversial Romanian directors, Radu Afrim.
Although I would have liked to put some pictures during the show, I couldn't take the photo because, of course you know, that's forbidden.
But I photographed the end, the applause, and the actors, this can no longer be forbidden.
I liked! A long but not boring show. Modernity has not harmed, on the contrary. Video and laser projections have helped make the theater show more dynamic, otherwise, Chekhov's writings are generally boring due to lack of action but spectacular in their drama. The drama and emotion even made me miss the photo on leaving the room. Because I didn't have another one, I put it as it is.
After several hours of pleasure, I have to accept that it's over and go home. Not before admiring the theater building at night.
University Square at night...
... and the subway, again. Half an hour to get home. This is how one of the most beautiful days of this year ended.
I said that I didn't pray in vain, I prayed for a return to normalcy in our lives. That is, let us not give up believing that we will receive what we pray for and hope to receive.
It reminded me of a short story about two parrots.
A monk had two parrots. These parrots were very devout and prayed all the time.
A woman had a very restless parrot lady who always said she is a whore. The woman was very upset about this and did not know how to educate her bird. Finding out about the monk's parrots, she asked him to let her bird stay with his parrots, hoping they could educate her. The monk agreed.
When lady parrot arrived at the cage of devout parrots, they said just that ... "We didn't pray in vain!"
