As per wiki, Kiwifruit is the national fruit of china but is claimed by New Zealand as they produce quantity and quality for the same. In 20th century Kiwi was first planted for commercially. During the world war Kiwifruit was mostly preferred by the American service man and soldiers posting in New Zealand.
In 1962 it is exported to California and named “Chinese gooseberry” and “ Melonette”. The cultivars of New Zealand started to call it Kiwifruit to give it more market value among the kiwi.In early 1970 it was planted in Italy and now they are in the second position followed by China for producing quantities.
Since the kiwifruit is commercially planted to New Zealand first, so they claimed that Kiwi fruits is patient to them where as China is the original patient of Chinese goose berry.
