When people ask we what my best metal detecting find is, I often share the story about this pretty little button.
When I was driving to Ohio from California to work on a duplex I own, I passed through a town called Cuervo, New Mexico. There's a ghost town. It's right on the side of the freeway for all to see. I decided when I came back, I would detect there as long as it was legal to do so. I researched and found no laws against it, so when I came back nearly 2 weeks later, I found this button. It was exhilarating! I love it when I find something that is important in history. I imagine the things that may have happened for that button to land there, like a wedding where the man was in his uniform or a welcome home party with his buds. This was found in front of a church near a bush, just a few paces to the right of the sidewalk leading to the church doors. You can see my YouTube video about it here:
