It was another beautiful edition of #stach-dsw with last night. The entries were amazing, congratulations to
for winning this episode. The theme was beauty and this was my entry, I wish I could write more poems.
*Raindrops on roses,
In a garden full of poises,
Sweet smell fill our noses,
This one thing stands out about nature; it's beauty.
Long whiskers on kittens,
Colourful feathers on chickens,
Chocolate in boxes tied with ribbons,
All I see is beauty.
This isn't a rhyme nor a prose,
So I'll just go straight to business.
The colour of the rainbow,
The laughter of friends,
The cries of a baby,
Knowing you are loved,
All these make life beautiful.
Just a minute, how do you feel when all these are missing?
When all hope seems lost, when all you feel is gloom,
Nothing could bring you joy, where then is the beauty of life?
Before we go on, how does one define beauty?
Long legs, brown eyes, shoulder length hair?
Slim, curvy and round in all the right places?
Flawless complexion and a mouth full of white teeth?
This was how I used to wish to be.
Tall, dark and handsome,
Walks with head held high and shoulders raised,
Confident and classy, and oh! yes, that drawl!
This was my dream man.
Years passed, dreams crashed,
Eyes cleared, lessons learnt,
Back to the table to collate all I learnt,
One thing stood out across the board,
Beauty is too broad to be stereotyped!
Take a look at the human race,
We come in diverse colours, shapes and sizes,
All with our unique characters and personalities,
All with beauty within and without.
Permit me to submit with this;
Take a deep breathe,
Clear away the debris from your mind,
*Feel the beauty of life once more.
I love you!
