The Assassin's Creed in question is the one called Brotherhood. It's an Assassin's Creed 2,5 of sorts. It came soon after the 2, and it feels a bit like a massive DLC with better graphics. A great game, anyway ... I think. For the most part, the story is set in the city of Rome, in the early 16th century.

Since there is no shortage of spectacular historic architecture in Rome, the game offers some great oportunity for culture-oriented ramblings between fights and assassinations. In this opening screenshot, you can see my avatar admiring the 16th-century cityscape from one of the rooftops near the Tiber River.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is one of those games that gives a lot of freedom to explore at your own pace, so why not take a little boat that resembles a gondola and see the city from a different angle?

Visiting the Colosseum is a must.

Just like today, the Colosseum was a fascinating, partially ruined remnant of a different civilization back then in the 16th century. I was the only tourist around, an assassin on a short vacation.

If you take a good look at the details in the background of this shot, you'll notice some drunks hanging out and some ragged clothes hanging to dry on the line right behind my avatar.

Throughout the Middle Ages, squatters built homes, workshops, and stables inside the arena and under the arches of the colosseum.

As a casual tourist, you can't see everything the in-game city has to offer. Some cool, hidden, mostly subterranean places can be accessed only through dangerous missions.

You can also come across a skeleton or two in those places.

If you survive, you sure have a great story for the folks back home. In the following screenshot ...

... my avatar is a time-traveling tourist again. Just a tourist walking to the bank. Today, an ordinary bank doesn't feel like something worth a selfie. Still, in the 16th century, the relatively modern banking system was only about two hundred years old, so I approached the bank like a first-rate tourist attraction.

Riding a horse through the narrow streets and across picturesque squares teeming with Renaissance people in their Renaissance clothes, on a moon-lit night, was another great tourist experience I had in the game.

Here you can see my avatar talking to some locals, asking if it is ok to sit down on that bench.

Yep, it was ok. The Renaissance dudes got nothing against it.

I'm still playing the game, so I'm still having great fun in this beautiful reconstruction of the rennasaince Rome. I never played an Assassin's Creed game before, but I'm pretty sure I will play many more in the future.
The original Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is a beautiful-looking game with graphics that have aged surprisingly well, but with one of the texture mods that can be found around, the experience can be even better. I used just one mod for these screenshots. A mod that didn't change the color palette and the atmosphere of the original.

So, what else can I tell you? Welcome to the Renaissance Rome ... be an assassin for a while ... and if you get sick or injured - don't worry, The Dottore has everything needed to keep you alive.
