Things are looking down in Detroit

With all the excitement around college softball lately, I have been slacking a bit in my coverage of the MLB. Before we get to that though, let's talk about the Detroit Pistons and the fact that they are now one game away from being eliminated in the NBA playoffs. I haven't watched any games in this current series, but I was really hoping they might do a bit better. After picking up the first two games by a significant margin, it's kind of sad to see the Cav's wake up and fight back to take a 3 to 2 game lead.

Meanwhile, over in the MLB, I saw a news story today talking about how Ohtani has an ERA of something like .82 right now. That's absolutely nuts. Is it possible he is just going to keep getting better and better as he gets older instead of the other way around? Talk about mind blowing.

Unfortunately, things aren't going so spectacular for my Detroit Tigers. It seems they have fallen to the bottom of the AL Central and they are now officially one of the worst teams in the league. Okay, that might be a bit of a stretch given the fact that The Angles only have 16 wins, and the Texans sit just above them in the AL West with 17 wins, but there are a whole lot of teams with 18 or 19 wins and the Tigers are among them.

Meanwhile, you have Tampa Bay sitting at the top of the AL East and the AL in general with 28 wins on the season. Those damn Yankees have 27 wins, and and then we have Cleveland with 24 wins slapping the Tigers around like the Cav's are with the Pistons!

I know it's still pretty early in the season and if the Tigers are going to have a slump this is the better time to have it. I just hope they don't let things get too far gone and aren't able to recover before the end of the post season.

I should also point out that in the AL Central Minnesota, Kansas City, and the Tigers are all tied with 18 wins and 24 losses. Then you have the White Sox, Rangers, and Mariners spread across the Central and West with 21 wins.

Meanwhile, over in the National League, the Atlanta Braves are still going strong with a MLB leading 30 wins. That puts them at the top of the NL East as well with Washington a miserable 9 games behind them at 21 wins. The Cubs top the NL Central with 27 wins, and the Padres and Dodgers are tied in the NL West with 25 wins a piece.

Down at the bottom we have the Mets and the Rockies with only 17 wins a piece. Sadly though the Mets still found a way to beat the Tigers the other day so WTF is that all about?

Believe it or not, the whole NL Central is nearly better than every single team in the AL. The lowest team in the NL Central is the Reds and they still have 22 wins on the season. I was watching a show the other day on TV and they made a jab at the Colorado Rockies for being so bad. You know you are horrible when stuff like that starts invading popular culture.

I wonder how many Braves fans are looking back to 1998 and wondering if this will be the year they can repeat that success and actually win the title.
