Brand new skateboard for my first double kick complete
I have been longboarding for almost 15 years now (14 this year) and really felt like it was about time I dabbled into other areas of skateboarding. My downhill and open road skating days feel like they are behind me and it is time I learned to ride skate parks (I hate cars). My youtube algorithm has been locked onto SkateIQ and loads of trick tips starting at the beginning. For any of you seasoned skaters reading this, drop a comment with your ideal trick progression or some great tips for newcomers please! 😎 And F#$K Switch! However, I do want to work on progressing towards skating some of the local bowl spots and numerous skateparks around me! Switch is inevitable, for now I am just a regular guy.
Reaching new areas of skating and disciplines is exciting me and where I have been pushing towards. Especially since the rough fall in 2021 that I had where I fractured my hand and got a really bad concussion. Not trying to give up on skateboarding and want to make more time to relearn some basics. So my new challenge is learning to actually ride a traditional popsicle shape. Obsessing over just the basics and I attached a small clip of my very first ride... need some proper angles and tricks for the next day out. It was a very true first session on the new deck and even my first skateboard of its kind! Hope to come back with some better footage next time, I want to keep doing a progress log.
SETUP DETAILS
Deck: Powell Peralta - Flight Andy Anderson Heron 2 Flight Egg - 8.7in x 32.3in
Trucks: Ace - 55 AF1 - Gold (stock bushings are too soft!!)
Wheels: Powell Peralta - Dragon Formula - 56mm x 40mm 88A
Bearings: Bronson - G3
The Andy Anderson deck is super comfortable so far, I am getting used to the smaller wheelbase and the very nice kick tails. The trucks I picked up are in need of some tinkering still it seems, stock bushings were way too soft! I tried to tweak my setup with what I had on hand, but really downsized my bushing supply over the years. New hard bushings have been ordered, got to stop that wheelbite before I full send this thing down my nearest slope. The wheels and some basic 180 powerslides were feeling buttery. Very stoked to get this thing out and explore more spots that my city has to offer!
