Sometimes in life, when you least expect it, there will be some kind of a trigger, that will allow your mind to put something (often quite unrelated) in perspective.
As I was taking these photo's and looking at this magnificint creature in front of my lens, I noted this animals thick hardened skin, and torn ears.
He was completely alone in the vast and harsh bush-veld.
It crossed my mind that this creature has probably endured unfathomable battles of his own in order to still be standing proud and strong in this very moment in front of my lens, then somehow in one of the shots I managed to capture a tiny little bird flying around the elephant.
I am not exactly sure how the train of thought was compiled, but it left me thinking about my own struggles in life as well as the unseen battles of others, and it made me realize that even when we feel very alone in a big world, we are not; and doesnt matter what battles we are fighting in life - we are at the end of the day bigger than the challenges that we face - and when those challenges have come to pass, we emerge stronger, wiser and more experienced from them.
