Hi Everyone,
Today, I wanted to do a review of a craft beer I recently tried – Angel City’s Pilsner.
This beer is made at a brewery in Los Angeles (which mean City of the Angels in Spanish – thus the brewery’s name) which has been gaining momentum and notoriety in the region.
One downside to craft beers is the cost – they tend to be somewhere between 2-5x the cost of a mainstream beer. Angel City brewery has been putting out reasonably priced craft brews, so perhaps that is why they are doing so well.
The Pilsner is 5.6% abv, and is marketed as a tribute to the German lager beer, as it is brewed with traditional German and Czech hops. On to the taste: I found it to be fresh and crisp, with easy drinkability. It does have a stronger hop finish, but not overpowering. One critique is that there isn’t anything particularly unique about it, and feels like a fairly mainstream pilsner beer – hard to get the “craft” when drinking it.
Overall, I give Angel City’s Pilsner a 4 out of 5. I certainly enjoyed it, and the price is decent, but I think that those looking for a unique craft beer will feel this misses the mark on that aspect.
Thanks for reading my review!
Brian
