We welcome the YouTubers and anyone who wants to join Steemit but I have a lot of varying thoughts on what could happen if we get a mass influx of content creators from YouTube. If word spreads and there is more investment into the platform it could be good because there will be more to go around. If a lot come and the price stays the same it could drain the reward pool and like we have seen before when a new group of people flow in they seem to get rewarded way better than any of us that have been around this whole time could ever imagine. If you have been around long enough you know what I'm talking about. There was the pretty girl era, and the conspiracy theorist era, and the crypto 'celebrity' era. Too many eras to count but they would make good money and then when their rewards dropped to under $500 / post they would usually decide to bounce out.
The YouTubers have done their time in the trenches on that platform for sure. It is rough building a following of any size.
So in my mind we ultimately give them a shot and help them out. I think from their perspective they should look at Steemit and YouTube as both pieces of their overall content creation income. Steemit isn't going to replace YouTube and YouTube isn't going to replace Steemit anytime soon. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
That is why when I hear the new YouTubers coming over here saying they might quit YouTube and just do Steemit full time I just roll my eyes. I mean give me a break, that wouldn't make any sense. Just be on both.
