GOLDEN SHOE SCULPTURES BY JOYCE
MY LOVE FOR HIGH HEELS
All-round Dutch artist Joyce de Gruiter creates design objects that are based on her passion
( and mine ) : high heels.
I saw her pieces at the phenix locatie in Rotterdam.
The love for high heels has existed since she saw Tina Turner dance with stilettos on the stage in the 1980s.
De Gruiter likes to refer to a quotation from Marilyn Monroe: "And the higher, the better, because without heels or plateaus she thinks life is particularly boring." High heels make each woman a different person. If shoes stand for beauty, 'movability' is not the most serious thing”
Another inspiration is miss Vivianne Westwood.
Towering footwear was therefore the source of inspiration for De Gruiter's collection 'Shoe Sculptures'. Just like her earlier collaboration with the frivolous fashion queen Vivienne Westwood, this line is one of extravagance. The shoes are clearly not intended to wear, but a feast to see through their social references and mixed materials such as 23.5 carat gold leaf, mother-of-pearl and chrome.
I love the first piece, All the heels and the big feet its surreal. And gold!
Go See that art ! Anywhere !
Thank you for Reading See you next time 😉
