Hello everyone, how are you doing on this beautiful day?
Yeah, I am sure many of us woke up on the right side of the bed today. The sun was warm, the birds were singing and the air was fresh. Everything was right in our little world.
But sadly, that is not how it is for the outside world.
At the moment, the entire world is watching and waiting, tension is filling up everywhere as we watch Russia and Ukraine. What had previously started out as a conflict has evolved into an all-out war. Loss of lives and property has been recorded. And the rest of the world has been severely warned not to interfere. Or there will be hell to pay.
There are speculations that this could lead to World War III, seeing as both Russia and Ukraine have allies who have got beef to settle with each other as well. Once these allies decide to join in, then this could spread out over the entire world and burn it to ashes.
And the thing is that it seems to be only the leaders who want this war. The people do not. In Russia, there are riots taking place as I write this. Mob police had to be deployed so that the crowd would be dispersed. They are protesting the war on Ukraine. These are mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, friends and neighbors. They know that no war is ever won without casualty. Even if they turn up victorious, it is their loved ones who will be the victims. Not the leaders who ordered them into the war in the first place.
And then Ukraine, after the first wave of attack by Russian Forces, thousands of them fled. There is no way for them to organize protests because the country is under siege, although they had protested vehemently before it all began. But now, who would they protest to? It was not their government that officially started the war.
So, it has finally started and it could go off in any direction. I urge you my dear friends to be vigilant and try to remain calm. Hopefully, the powers of the world would intervene and make this stop before it gets any worse and more lives get taken prematurely.
We do not want war, not in our country, or in any country for that matter. We all can live in peace and harmony. We all can do business together without having to kill ourselves. Everyone deserves a chance at life.
My heart goes out to all Russians and Ukrainians out there, the ordinary people who have no say over the antics of their leaders. I know you are going through tough times, and the situation looks bleak but you must stay strong and keep your head sharp. This is one storm that we pray will blow over.
My dear friends, if you know any Russian or Ukrainian, be they at home or in diaspora, reach out to them and make sure they are alive and well. Because if they are not in danger, they probably have someone that is. And also, say a prayer for them as well. It does not matter your religion. Your prayers might go a long way.
It is only by small acts as these that the light can truly shine on the world once again.
