There are a lot of good reasons to delegate to projects. This can be for Hive-Engine tokens, liquid HIVE as a share of curation rewards, helping others, etc. The question that matters most is, "What keeps people delegating?"
(Created with Bing)
I'm still working on my token idea. The issue with delegations is once the main draw of delegating is gone, what is keeping people around?
A great example of this is the HELIOS project. The token supply has pretty much hit its limit, so nobody is earning more tokens, yet people continued to delegate. As soon as there was talk of eliminating HIVE payouts from curation rewards, suddenly those delegations disappeared in a hurry.
So it would seem that when the tokens dry up, the delegations stay if liquid HIVE is paid out from curation rewards. The next question would be what would is an ideal percentage payout range? Certainly 100% would be best, but in order for a project to grow it would have to be less than that in order to continue growing the HP over time.
So what is an ideal percentage range you'd want to see paid in liquid HIVE for delegating? Or am I wrong and there are other motivating factors I haven't considered?
